The MLB playoffs have been interesting. The Atlanta Braves have made it to the world series for the first time since 1995. This is huge news for Braves fans as their team faced the Houston Astros, a very controversial team after the cheating scandal in 2019, but with a lot of talent. This was a great series, and it was exciting to see who won.

The Underdogs

It seems like no one would have predicted the Braves to go to the world series. The Braves barely slipped into the playoffs, but their record did not show their talent. The Braves have some of the most underrated talents in baseball, and it has shown. The Braves beat the Milwaukee Brewers in the NLDS 3 games to 1, then they beat the Dodgers, surprisingly 4 games to 2. Then, they went to the world series, and it is exciting that the Braves won their first World series in a long time.

The Atlanta Braves

Leading into the World Series, the Atlanta Braves had a very underrated offense, headlined by Freddie Freeman, who is batting .297 with an OBP of .449, and a slugging percentage of .595. Eddie Rosario who has a batting average of .465, an OBP of .511, and a slugging of .767. Joc Pederson has a batting average of .273, an OBP of .314 and a slugging of .545. Ozzie Albie’s, who is batting .277, with an OBP of 306, and a slugging of .340. These are some of the better hitters that have made a significant impact in the post-season. In game 6, Eddie Rosario hit a 3-run home run to give the Braves a 4-1 lead, the Braves went on to win 4-2 over the Dodgers. This is a major reason the Braves went to the World series.

The Houston Astros

The Houston Astros also had a lot to offer leading into the World Series in Yordan Alverez who was battling .410. with an OBS of .529 and a slugging of .769. Kyle Tucker who was batting .298 with an OBS of 340 and a slugging of .617. Yuli Gurriel who was batting .340 with an OBP of .380 with a slugging of .426. Michael Brantley who was batting .352 with an OBP of .352 and a slugging of .426. These hitters have made a statement that even through all the hate and controversy, they were a major threat all throughout the post-season, but they fell short of another world series win.

World Series Final Overview

This World series was very close, with the Braves winning the World series in game 6, of the 2021 World series for the first time in 26 years! Jorge Soler was named the 2021 World series MVP after hitting 3 total homeruns in the World series alone with one of them being a 3-run homerun in game 6 to lead the Braves to a 7-0 victory over the Houston Astros in Houston. With the help of Max Fried’s absolute gem of a performance in game 6, Jorge Soler’s 3 RBIs and homerun, Freddie Freemans 2 hits and 2 RBIs, and Ozzie Albie’s 2 hits with 2 runs scored. The Houston Astros were not expecting to get shut out in game 6 of the world series in Houston. The Braves were very well ready to play, and it was a very well-deserved victory!
