Patriot High School Hosts First Virtual Club/Activities Fair
Atreyi Kartik|Nov 16, 2020

This year, Patriot High School hosted their first ever Virtual Club/Activities Fair on Thursday, November 12th.
The Virtual Club/Activity Fair was held on a website with zoom links to attend. The fair consisted of two 30 min breakouts to where club sponsors provided an overview of the club, discussed upcoming events/ideas, and engaged with any students. There was a session from 8:50-9:20 and another one from 9:30-10:00 for students who were interested.
The main reason that the Patriot staff decided to do this event was to bring different clubs together, and basically get students to be more involved. This was useful for the student body especially since they are all learning from a distance virtually. The activities fair got people interested and gave them information on the different types of clubs Patriot offers.
Mr. Qualls, the head of the fair said “Many students were unaware of the many different activities that we offer at Patriot, so it also gave them an opportunity to explore the many options that we have.”
Qualls also mentioned that there are a variety of clubs that people can join, and not just one specific club. He also mentioned that while people are not required to join clubs, they all still highly encourage to do so. Clubs are a good asset to college applications as well, so students should highly consider joining a few in the future.
Mrs. Selby, a Choir teacher, and a sponsor for the Tri-M National Music Honor Society said “ I’m hopeful that students who want to join Tri-M got more information about the organization and the criteria for membership. I also hope they tell their friends about it!”
Selby said that she as well as other sponsors for clubs hope that the students that are already in clubs, will tell their friends and get them motivated to join clubs. So that way, people can share how much fun their club is to others, and hopefully get them to join clubs in the future.
Mrs. Eaton, an English teacher who sponsors NEHS, said ”I was hoping for students to ask questions and show interest in the club. Now I can see that there is quite a bit of interest moving forward.”
If students weren’t able to attend the Virtual Club/Activity Fair, they can still email sponsors for anything they missed.
Due to the pandemic, many students at Patriot weren’t aware of how to join clubs. Therefore, it is good that students got the opportunity to attend the Virtual Club/Activity Fair, as they received a lot of valuable information!
