With the end of the school year around the corner, Patriot seniors are ready to announce their decisions for the next stage of their lives, including several who have announced their plans to compete in sports at the college level.

Senior Jack Daly, is committed to Cornell University for track and field.

“I’m planning on studying biological sciences and I plan to compete in the 200 meter and 400 meter dash as my main events.” Daly said.

Daly currently runs track for Patriot’s track and field team.

While competing for Patriot, Daly won the state championship for the 500 meter race in 2020. The team also won the regional championship in 2019.

Senior student athlete, Cody Rodgers, is committed to Virginia Military Institute (VMI) for football. “I plan on majoring in business and playing quarterback at VMI,” Rodgers said. Rodgers is currently the starting quarterback for Patriot.

As starting quarterback, Rodgers led Patriot to a 9-1 record, the best in Patriot’s history. This year, the team made it to the third round in the playoffs, which is the farthest the team has ever gone. This year, Rodger’s earned 6 touchdowns in a single game, setting a new personal record.

Another senior athlete, Bryce Demory, is committed to VMI. He plans to play baseball there, as an outfielder, and study biology. Demory currently plays baseball on the team at Patriot.

“I remember my first season as a pioneer. I was a leader and I brought energy to the team every practice and to every game.”

Senior Abby Daniel, is committed to the University of Akron for swimming.

“I plan on studying physiology in hopes of becoming a certified physical therapist. I plan on competing in the 100 and 200 meter breaststroke, the 100 and 200 meter butterfly, and the 100 and 200 meter Individual Medley,” Daniel said. “In addition to these individual events, I also want to be selected for as many relays that I can.”

Daniel currently swims for Patriot’s swim and dive team. While a part of the swim and dive team, Daniel set multiple Patriot records, in both relays and individual events. Daniel has made all-American status three times and has been named Most Valuable Female Swimmer since her freshman year.

Senior Caitlin Blackman, is committed to Dickinson College for basketball. Blackman is currently undecided on her major, but she is thinking about studying psychology, pre-law, or international studies.

“I usually play a mixture of point guard and shooting guard, but I will most likely pursue playing point guard.”  Blackman currently plays for Patriot’s Women’s Basketball team.

Blackman was named Cedar Run Player of the Year this season and is a three-time first team all conference player. While a part of the team, she made it to the district tournament finals in back-to-back seasons.

Many of Patriot’s athletes will continue to represent the Pioneers at the university level as they begin their collegiate careers.
