So far students are rooting for the United States, with 50% of them being sophomores, most of whom are athletes themselves. 62% of survey takers have watched sports outside of the Olympics. Most survey takers have said that they have previously watched the Olympic Games, most of whom only watch it if it’s with a participant they’re interested in observing in the Olympic games. Most

survey takers didn’t have a specific athlete, but honorary mentions were Kate Douglass, Simone, Biles, and Jakob Ingebrigtsen. When asked what their predictions were, here were some student responses.

“The US will do well, but not better than European countries.” -Mia Miller, ‘26.

“Australia takes most gold for swimming, USA track and field most gold, USA gymnastics most gold.”-Lucy Daniel, ‘25.

“Jakob (Ingebrigtsen) will take the dub against Josh Kerr.“ -Thomas Lamonia, ‘26.

When asked what their Predictions were for the most popular games. A majority have said gymnastics, and with the least popular games, there were mixed responses, with some saying speedwalking, and others saying games such as badminton and pickleball. Of course, only time will tell to truly see what the most popular games will be this year, who wins and who takes the gold, we will see if these predictions are correct, if interested in watching how events unravel, you can either spectate in person or live online with Peacock and WBAL-TV.
